Singapore, 4 December 2007 – SPH Magazines Pte Ltd (“SPH Magazines”)
is proud to announce its participation in the Worldwide Magazine
Marketplace 2007 (WMM 2007). This international conference organised by
International Federation of the Periodical Press (FIPP) will be held
from 10 to 11 December 2007 at Suntec City Convention Hall.
It
is the first time for FIPP to organise this worldwide event outside
London, UK, and they have chosen Singapore as their first venue in Asia
for the event. FIPP’s local partner for this event is the Magazine
Publishers’ Association of Singapore.
Organised
for the seventh year, WMM is the only event in the world for magazine
publishers who are interested in international licensing, joint
ventures and syndication, to effectively network and explore business
opportunities. It brings together consumers, business-to-business
(B2B), specialist publishers, digital publishers and suppliers from
across the globe to interact and share their experiences.
With
the growing magazine market in Singapore, as indicated by Nielsen Media
Index 2007 findings recently, it is apt that Singapore is the venue for
an international magazine conference.
Nielsen´s
findings saw an upward trend in magazines´ reach over the past 3 years,
with one out of three persons in Singapore reading magazines every
month. This proves that Magazines is one of the mediums of choice in
Singapore market.
SPH Magazines, a leading
publisher in Singapore, holding the largest market share in the local
magazines publishing sector and producing many strong titles like the
No. 1 and 2 women´s titles, Her World and Female,
strongly supports the first WMM in Singapore. It is sending ten
delegates to the conference and will be setting up an exquisite
exhibition booth to facilitate its networking sessions with the
overseas publishers.
It is also opportune that SPH Magazines´
leading position was recently attested by the Nielsen Media Index
findings which revealed that notwithstanding its leading titles, Her World and Female, its titles, Simply Her and Shape, having only been in the market for three years, yield encouraging readership figures of 79,000 and 58,000 respectively. Its Home & Decor captures the largest market share in the home decoration category with readership of 57,000.
Living up to its status as a leading publisher, SPH Magazines
will be launching two initiatives to raise the industry colour
standards and improve transmission of advertisement copies at its ad
agencies network forum entitled MagNet on 7 December 2007, becoming the first publisher to set such benchmarks for the industry in Singapore.
“SPH Magazines´
goal is to become a multi-media company with significant international
presence. Actively participating in FIPP´s WMM 2007 Conference gives us
the platform to showcase our fleet of products and services to the
international industry players, and the opportunity to meet potential
business partners to expand our network,” said Mr Loh Yew Seng, CEO of SPH Magazines.
The
two-day conference, to be opened by Singapore´s Minister for
Information, Communications and the Arts, Mr Lee Boon Yang, will be
packed with workshops conducted by experienced, knowledgeable and
well-known key personnel in the industry. They include those from
England, Sweden, Italy, America, Korea and Singapore. Mr Allen Loh, SPH Magazines´ Managing Director has been invited to moderate a discussion forum during the conference.
“This
is an excellent opportunity for us to meet with our various
international partners under a single platform. We hope to further
strengthen our ties with them through our various initiatives at WMM
2007” added Mr Loh Yew Seng.
