AsiaOne Podcast and Vodcast Contest to showcase what gets Singaporean youths going
SINGAPORE, 16 July 2007
-- Calling all Singapore youths: Here´s your chance to tell the world
your dreams, passions and aspirations - or simply what shapes you and
gets you going.
The challenge is to express this
in two minutes - in the most creative and original way that will best
capture and personify who you are and what you are really after.
If
you want to be seen and heard, take part in the AsiaOne "This Is Me"
podcast and vodcast contest, which is aimed at giving youths a platform
to showcase their talent and flair in using technology as a tool for
expression and creativity.
The contest, divided into two categories - audio podcast and video podcast - will run from July 16 to Oct 31, 2007. There will be four themes to guide contestants.
"AsiaOne
wants to give youths a platform to express themselves because many of
them feel that they are not being listened to. It´s our way of reaching
out to youths and finding out what makes them tick in this World Wide
Web environment," says Irene Ngoo, Editor of AsiaOne.
"We
want to know the music they listen to, the friends they hang out with
and do things together, how connected they are, what captures their own
space and their hopes, dreams and aspirations.
"This
Is Me contest is for youths, about youths and by youths, targeting
today´s tech-savvy generation who grow up surrounded by video games,
personal computers, iPods and cell phones, and with a can-do attitude."
Why podcast?
"Podcasting
has proven to be a flexible, simple and versatile way to package
information that can be easily disseminated and consumed," explains Ms
Ngoo.
"With the wide range of user-friendly and
affordable production technology, such as Apple´s iLife´06 Creative
Suite and MacBooks, podcasts can be produced almost effortlessly by
anyone, with a bit of imagination and a story to share."
AsiaOne
is Singapore´s leading news, lifestyle and business portal. It was
launched in June 1995, and currently draws over 100 million page views
a month with 6 million unique audiences.
Attractive Prizes
Over $10, 000 worth of Apple products - 4 iPods (30GB each), 4 iPod Nanos (4 GB each) and 4 MacBooks.
4 iPod nanos and 4 iPods

of each of the four themes respectively. Each theme will have a
three-week run.
