Get Ready To Be Eyeballed This Saturday

Where: Shaw House amphitheatre
When: 12 August 2000, 12 - 6 pm

August 10, 2000 - Still don’t know what Project Eyeball is about? Then, come down to the heart of Orchard Road to experience the "eye-popping" launch of the latest newspaper in town. Singapore Press Holdings’ eleventh newspaper, Project Eyeball, an innovative morning tabloid targeted at the net-savvy generation, will hit the streets on 12 August 2000

From 12 noon to 6 pm, this Saturday, free copies of the 64-page bumper launch issue of Project Eyeball will be given out on Orchard Road at the Shaw House amphitheatre - along with games, entertainment and prizes amounting $20,000 to create an "eye-opening" sampling experience.

Pick up a free copy of Project Eyeball and be treated to latest movies, with complimentary soft drink and popcorn at Lido Cineplex, for just $5 a person. The movies include "The Patriot", "Rules of Engagement", "Maybe Baby" and "Scary Movie"; as well as a chance to win the latest Creative Technology MP3 players.

Or come dress up as an Eyeball and win cash prizes of $200, $300 and $500 in our hourly "Eyeball Connotate" contest - where the best version of an eyeball in the form of a drawing, poem or any other creative expression will win.

Live music performances by local bands and celebrities like John Klass and Livonia, dance items and fashion shows will also be on the list of activities to entertain the crowd.

That’s not all. In your free copy of Project Eyeball, there are cut-out redemptioncoupons for free coffee, ice-cream or a discounted meal at selected Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Coffee Club Xpress, Delifrance, Dome and Haagen Dazs at each selected outlet. These redemption offers are limited to first 1000 customers; while at Haagen Dazs, the offer is limited to first 2000 customers for each of its two selected outlets.

"We are printing 120,000 copies of Eyeball to be distributed free on Saturday and the first five weekdays. The Project Eyeball team is all revved-up and ready to eyeball our audience with the launch issue on Saturday. Although we are confident that readers will like our paper, we are still ready to listen to our readers," said Editor, Ms Bertha Henson.
