SPH MediaWorks Ltd - appointment of new Executive Director
SINGAPORE, MARCH 31st Singapore Press Holdings announced
today that Mr Lee Cheok Yew has ceased to be CEO of SPH MediaWorks
Ltd with immediate effect.
Mr Lee joined SPH MediaWorks in June 2000 and helped to set up
its two TV stations Channel U and Channel i.
The Board of SPH MediaWorks Ltd is pleased to announce the appointment
of Mr Wee Leong How as Executive Director of SPH MediaWorks with
effect from 1 April 2003. Mr Wee will take charge of SPH MediaWorks
until a new CEO is appointed.
A graduate of Cambridge University, Mr Wee is currently Chairman
of Times Periodicals Pte Ltd, the leading magazine publisher in
Singapore, with titles like Her World, Her World Brides, Young Parents
and Home & Décor. He is also Executive Vice President
of Human Resources in SPH. In his 19 years with SPH, Mr Wee has
also held appointments in Corporate Planning and Corporate Relations.
Said Mr Wee: "We have a great bunch of committed and enthusiastic
colleagues at SPH MediaWorks. My task is to work with them not just
to improve further in our ratings but also to translate our ratings
into revenue.
"I want to assure all our customers and business partners
that SPH is fully committed to our TV business. We will work hard
to ensure that our customers and partners continue to get maximum
value from us."
SPH CEO Alan Chan added: "SPH is fully committed to the success
of TV. Mr Wee will work with the team in SPH MediaWorks to ensure
that they stay committed and are not affected in any way by Mr Lee's
departure."
