Press Release
Lee Kuan Yew Memoirs Volume 2 to launch in September
Special edition to raise funds for educational upgrading
Singapore, August 4, 2000 - The much awaited second volume
of Senior Minister Lee Kuan Yew's memoirs will be launched on September
16, 2000. Entitled "From Third World to First, The Singapore
Story: 1965 - 2000", this volume which comes in both English
and Chinese versions is jointly published by Times Publishing Group
and Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) Limited.
From Third World to First continues where the bestselling first
volume, The Singapore Story, left off, to tell the story of a nation's
dramatic rise since achieving independence in 1965 to its present
status as a thriving Asian metropolis with the world's fourth highest
per capita income.
To quote from the book cover:
"Like the man, the first volume of the memoirs has been
both praised and vilified, but proved impossible for all interested
in Asian politics to ignore. From Third World to First offers readers
an even more compelling mix of political insight and intrigue."
