Straits Times launches "Got Life!" campaign to engage
readers
August 29, 2002 - As part of the "Got Life!" campaign,
readers will see an improved Life! section of The Straits Times
from this Sunday. The exercise is to make Life! even more relevant
to its readers and advertisers. To start, Sunday Plus will be renamed
Sunday Life! but it will continue to focus on lifestyle issues that
Singaporeans talk about.
This branding exercise is part of The Straits Times' efforts to
continually improve itself for its readers and advertisers. Apart
from a new and refreshing masthead, new daily features will be introduced
to engage the reader each day. The daily line-up which readers can
expect are:
Monday - Arts; Tuesday - Travel; Wednesday - Movies; Thursday -
Fashion; Friday - Music; Saturday - Design
"The editors of The Straits Times are committed to improving
the product so as to deliver relevant and quality content. It is
this dedication which has made The Straits Times the top newspaper
not only in Singapore, but also in the pacific region," said
Mr Tham Khai Wor, Executive Vice President, Marketing, Singapore
Press Holdings Limited.
Added Mr Tham: "This is why readers and advertisers find good
value in The Straits Times as their first choice for information.
For advertisers, The Straits Times is a premium brand that helps
them reach their target audience effectively."
Mr Tham was present at the "Come celebrate Life!" trade
presentation at The Ritz-Carlton today to unveil the new look and
content for Life!.
"We lifers are very excited about the exercise and hope to
engage our readers with the daily features. With the Esplanade in
action soon, we think it timely to devote Monday to the Arts,"
said Ms Sumiko Tan, Acting Editor, The Straits Times Life!. Lifers
is a pet name for the team at Life!.
She added: "Our readers told us they want more stories on
travel so Tuesday is designated for that and movies is the feature
on Wednesdays so readers can read about the latest blockbusters
just in time for the sneak previews on Thursdays."
Life! has proven itself to be one of the best-read sections of
The Straits Times, with quality and interesting content which appeal
to different genres. The section is read by 95 per cent of The Straits
Times' readers, or over 1.3 million readers every day. This figure
is comparative with the number of readers who read the Home section
of The Straits Times.
