Changes to
4 component stocks on STI on March 1
25th FEBRUARY 2004 - Following a review of the Straits
Times Index (STI), four changes will be made to the component stocks
of the index at the start of trading on Monday, 1 March 2004.
Hotung Investment Holdings, Natsteel, Overseas Union Enterprise and
SMRT Corporation will be replaced by Singapore Post, Cosco Investment
(Singapore), BIL International and TPV Technology. The main criteria
used in the review were liquidity, as measured by average daily value
traded, and market capitalisation.
The weight factors of several index stocks will also be updated
on Monday, 1 March 2004, to reflect corporate actions that have
taken place. (See table below.)
With these changes, the 45 stocks in the STI will capture 61% of
the average daily value traded on the SGX and 69% of the market
capitalisation of stocks listed on the SGX.
