SPH Appoints
Two New Board Directors
27 FEBRUARY 2004 Media group Singapore Press Holdings
Limited is pleased to announce the appointment of two new directors
to its Board with effect from 1 March 2004.
They are Professor Cham Tao Soon, 64, and Mr Willie Cheng Jue Hiang,
50.
Professor Cham, the former President of Nanyang Technological University,
will be the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors as well as
a member of the Executive Committee of SPH.
He is currently director of five listed companies in Singapore,
namely, WBL Corporation, TPA Strategic Holdings, United Overseas
Bank, Robinson & Company, and Natsteel, of which he is the Chairman.
He also sits on numerous statutory boards, business committees,
academic and civic organisations, such as the Singapore Symphonia
Company, Land Transport Authority, Singapore International Foundation,
Council of Presidential Advisers and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts
Foundation and Council.
Mr Cheng, the former Managing Director of Accenture Singapore who
is active in the Singapore's infotech scene and community service,
will be appointed to the Audit Committee of SPH.
He is currently a director of several companies and statutory boards,
including Neptune Orient Lines, NTUC Fairprice and SPRING Singapore.
He is also honorary deputy secretary of the Singapore Business Federation,
member of the Committee on Governance of IPCs, Chairman of the National
Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre and Committee On The Family.
