
IFRA Asias Annual Media Awards 2004
Singapore, July 1, 2004 For the third year running,
the annual Publish Asia Media Awards brought big smiles to the winners
at The Fullerton Hotel, Singapore this evening. Attended by hundreds
of top executives from leading newspapers and magazines around the
world, the event was a spectacular one. A total of 18 awards for three
categories Printing, Infographics and Design were given out
during the gala dinner.
This year, Singapore Press Holdings bagged 5 of the 18 awards.
In the Best in Print, Double Width category, The Straits Times won
the silver award and bronze award went to the sister Chinese daily,
Lianhe Zaobao. In the Best in Newspaper Design category, the gold
award went to The Sunday Times. In the Best in Newspaper Infographics
category, The Straits Times won both the gold and bronze awards.
Apple Daily, Taiwan took home 2 awards namely Best in Print, Single
Width gold award and Best in Newspaper Design bronze award. Guangzhou
Daily won the gold award for Best in Print, Double Width category.
And the silver and bronze award for Best in Print, Single Width
category went to Prajavani (Belur) published by The Printers (Mysore)
Pvt. Ltd, India and Malayala Manorama published by The Malayala
Manorama, Co. Ltd. India respectively.
The Edge Communications Sdn Bhd, Malaysia won the silver award
for Best in Newspaper Design award. The last award under the Newspaper
category Best in Newspaper Infographics went to Dainik Bhaskar,
India.
Under the Magazines categories, 2 award categories were given out
namely Best in Magazine Design and Best in Magazine Infographics.
TIME magazine published by Time Inc. Asia, Hong Kong took home 3
awards for Best in Design, silver award; and Best in Infographics,
gold and bronze awards. The silver award under Best in Infographics
category went to India Today published by Living Media India Limited.
Young Parents published by SPH Magazine Pte Ltd won the gold award
for Best in Design category and Wine and Dine published by Wine
and Dine Experience Pte Ltd won the bronze award.
Man Roland Druckmaschinen AG has proudly sponsored the Best in
Print award this year.
Publish Asia is an annual industry event organized by Ifra Asia,
Singapore, regional office of Ifra the world's leading organisation
for newspaper and media publishing.
