Berita Harian organises third
financial planning conference - "Money and You"
Singapore, 9 June 2005 - Following the success of the second
financial planning conference for the Malay community last year,
Berita Harian is organising the third financial planning conference
to be held on 24 July 2005.
The conference is co-organised with SSA Consulting Group and sponsored
by Maybank in Singapore.
The conference, to be held at Raffles City Convention Centre, will
be officiated by Mr Raymond Lim, Second Minister for Finance and
Minister, Prime Minister's Office.
Berita Harian expects more than 500 participants to attend the
one-day conference.
Participants for last two years' conference were mainly professionals
and white-collar workers between 25 and 55 years old.
This year's conference on "Money and You'' will feature five
experts who will offer tips on money-saving strategies, strategies
for retirement planning and estate planning, developing a mindset
of a millionaire and strategies to avoid debt trap and what to do
if one is already trapped by debt.
Mr Guntor Sadali, Editor of Berita Harian, said: "The past
two conferences helped to enhance greater awareness on the importance
of financial planning among the Malay community."
"Going forward, this year's conference would provide more in
depth and practical approach to managing and planning their finance.''
Financial Planner of The Year, Mr Christopher Tan, chief executive
of independent financial advisory firm Providend, will speak on
"Money -Saving Strategies'' to help participants reduce their
financial commitments like insurance premiums, investments and mortgages,
so they can free up more cash for savings and retirement needs.
Self-made millionaire, Dr Rusly Abdullah, motivational speaker
and author of two books "SILENT Millionaire'' and "Roadmap
to Wealth'' will share tips on how to create a mindset of a millionaire.
A lawyer, Mr Noor Marican, from Noor Marican & Associates will
speak on the topic "Living on Credit and the Legal Implications''.
Mr Marc Leong, Vice President, Head of Mobile Sales Team, Retail
Finance Services Maybank, will share his expertise on the different
avenues to meet retirement funds, managing current lifestyle and
of course life during retirement.
The speaker personally has always believed in living well, enjoying
life during our work life yet at the same time have sufficient funds
to retire comfortably.
Estate planning scholar, Mr Mohd Murat, Director of Department
of Islamic Affairs, Muslim Religious Council will share with participants
some aspects of Islamic estate planning that Malay community must
know in the context of Singapore.
Special early bird promotion is from now to 5 July at $50 person.
Participants will be charged $75 per person after the promotion
