World Celebrates 45 Fabulous Years
- Singapore's best-selling and most widely-read women's magazine turns
45 in July.
28 June 2005, Singapore - Her World has come a long way
since it was first published in July 1960. Says its editor Rachel
Tan: "Over the years, Her World has moved with the times yet
touched the pulse and heart of the modern woman at every decade. And
in the last 18 months, SPH Magazines is experiencing a growth spurt
as never before, taking Her World to three more countries - Malaysia,
Thailand, and China - while launching several magazines. The combined
energy and resources put us in a prime position to sharpen our focus
as Singapore's last word on fashion and women's issues."
Adds Ms Tan: "Like in Singapore, Her World aims to become
an integral part of women's lives in the region as a fashion-forward
leader, but also in lifestyle, career, money and relationship matters."
To kick off Her World's 45th anniversary celebrations, a search
for the first issue of Her World - the July 1960 edition
- was conducted early this year. A loyal reader, 65-year-old Jenny
Low, showed up with a well-kept copy and a sentimental story behind
it. She had fallen in love with the Rolex watch advertised at the
back of the magazine, and months later, her husband bought her that
watch as a wedding gift. And she has kept the watch - and the magazine
- both in pristine condition, since.
We are rolling out the red carpet at the Her World 45th Anniversary
Champagne Party for advertisers and trade partners on July 1
at the Paragon atrium, with a multi-label fashion show. Door gifts
include a limited reproduction of the first issue of Her World.
On July 2, a Her World readers' party will be held at 3 pm
at the same venue. The first 300 readers to show up with the July
2005 issue of the magazine will gain entry to a fashion show, and
stand to win prizes too. The first 100 readers will receive a Lancome
gift.
What readers will look forward to most is our 45th Anniversary
