President S R Nathan Celebrates
Be Yourself Day with Students Who Dare to Make A Difference - The
New Paper Be Yourself Day is in support of President's Challenge 2005
Singapore,
29 August 2005 - The New Paper Be Yourself Day is gaining increasing
support from schools all over Singapore from 24 schools when it first
started four years ago to 75 schools this year. 52 schools have hosted
this event and raised a total of $97,937.63 to date this year.
The other 23 schools will be holding its Be Yourself Day on August
31 or sometime in September.
The day designated by individual school as Be Yourself Day allows
students to come to school dressed in their creative best to express
their individual personalities. Students, while enjoying their creative
freedom, will also be reminded of the less fortunate by making a donation.
Since its inception, Be Yourself Day has been a fund-raising event
for President's Challenge, an annual charity event that benefits 54
charities.
This is the sixth year The New Paper is involved in raising funds
for President's Challenge. Like in previous years, students will also
take part in The Most Creatively Dressed Contest.
President S R Nathan has been invited to grace this year's Be Yourself
Day celebration at Admiralty Secondary School on Wednesay, August
31 at 11.30am. The programme line-up for that day includes a Be
Yourself Day (BYD) Fashion Show based on the theme of conservation
with students creating their costumes using recycling materials. There
will also be a fashion parade showcasing students in other creative
outfits.
