Tamil Murasu is organizing the Most Inspiring Tamil Teacher Award
Ceremony 2005 on 17 September 2005, Saturday, at the News Centre
Auditorium, 1000 Toa Payoh North.
Mr S Iswaran, Deputy Speaker of Parliament is the Guest-Of-Honour
for this event that aims to recognize the efforts and contributions
of Tamil teachers in nurturing and serving as role models for the
Tamil students.
Said Dr Chitra Rajaram, Editor of Tamil Murasu, "With the
increasing emphasis and importance on second languages in our education
system, it is timely to give due recognition to these Tamil teachers
for their efforts in developing innovative ways to bring across
the Tamil language and its rich culture to the students. We also
acknowledge the important role of these teachers in creating an
enriching and stimulating environment for the students and hence,
by bringing them to the forefront, we want to encourage an even
greater appreciation of the language."
All Primary, Secondary and Junior College students were eligible
to participate and nominations submitted had to be supported with
a short write-up on the teacher of their choice. Over 550 entries
were received this year.
One teacher from each of the categories (Primary, Secondary and

plus an airline ticket. The student who nominated the winning teacher
will also receive a $250 voucher and another $250 voucher for the
school he/she is currently from. In addition, there will be a merit
prize of a $250 voucher to the teachers and students from the three
