Singapore, 15 August 2006 - In response to the media queries
on the case of Mr Ching Cheong, the publisher of The Straits Times,
Singapore Press Holdings has issued the following statement :
"We are glad that the trial for Ching Cheong is finally over
after his detention for more than a year. We sincerely hope for
the best outcome and will continue to assist him and his family
in all possible ways."
