SPH's ad campaign wins accolades
at the New York Festivals
Singapore, 5 October 2006 - An ad campaign developed by
the Creative Services team of Marketing Division at Singapore Press
Holdings has won a finalist certificate at the prestigious New York
Festivals (NYF) last month.
The ad campaign to promote the first season of SPH Gift of Music,
a concert series sponsored by SPH to bring music to the community
was one of the finalists in the Corporate Image/ Information category
of this year's international advertising competition.
The series of three print ads showing images of plants and trees
"morphed" into musical instruments such as the saxophone,
clarinet and the double-bass was created in 2005 to launch the inaugural
SPH Gift of Music series. The creative concept promotes the idea
of bringing music to outdoor venues such as parks and the heartlands.
SPH Gift of Music has since become a popular concert series which
is currently into its second season.
This year's award-winning entries were chosen by more than 200
Advertising, Marketing and Production Executives and Creative Directors
from over 50 countries. No other international advertising awards
has a panel of judges with the magnitude as that of the NYF.
Leading the creative team to produce the award-winning ads is Executive
Creative Director Linda Leong. The other team members are Associate
Creative Director Dollah Jaafar, Senior Copywriter Jade Mok, Art
Director Michelle Teo and Senior Designer Rachel Chin.
This is not the first time Creative Services is recognised at the
NYF. Their past works won 7 Finalist Awards in 2000, 1 Bronze in
2001 and 3 Finalist Awards in 2003 at the renowned advertising competition.
"This year's win is made more meaningful as it is the first
in-house ad campaign promoting an SPH corporate sponsorship event
which is being recognised at an international competition. It is
encouraging that our corporate branding effort pays off as we were
up against some of the best ad agencies in the world," says
Linda, whose creative team is no stranger to winning other international
advertising awards.
In 2005, Creative Services walked away with the Best Campaign at
the Pacific Area Newspaper Publishers' Association (PANPA) Advertising
Awards with an ad campaign to hype up Lianhe Zaobao's revamped Sunday
edition.
