the showdown for
The Straits Times National Schools Newspaper Competition?
Singapore, 16 October 2006 - The ten short listed schools
for The Straits Times National Schools Newspaper Competition are out!
Short listed from 25 entries by a panel of Straits Times judges,
these ten schools will be taking part in a 24-hour Newspaper Challenge.
This dynamic hands-on challenge will take place on December 4th,
where each editorial team of 5 students will be given one day to
produce a four-page newspaper - with assignments given on the day
itself, and working in an environment that simulates the newsroom.
The 10 secondary schools and their student publications are:

Serene Goh, Editor for IN, the secondary student publication of
The Straits Times, said, This year, the quality is generally
higher, with more thought from student editors and shown in the
way that stories are written. The publications each also have their
own identities, which show quite clearly what is happening in schools.
In November, the student editorial teams of the ten schools will
be sent on a one-day training session on Microsoft Publisher, courtesy
of sponsor Microsoft.
Attractive prizes, including a Lenovo Thinkpad and desktops, await
this years winners of The Straits Times National Schools Newspaper
Competition. They are:
