Faces of SPH Media
Each individual at SPH Media brings their unique skills, perspectives and passions to the table, fostering a collaborative and diverse workplace community. Read some of their stories below!

Senior Printing Specialist, Neo Eng Teck
For decades, SPH Media's print subscribers have been receiving their newspapers at their doorsteps every morning. Neo Eng Teck is one of the many people who makes this possible. As a Senior Printing Specialist at SPH Media, he works at the SPH Media Print Centre in Jurong to produce thousands of newspapers every day.
Starting as an apprentice back in 1987, he has worked at the print centre for close to 40 years, organising the team that gets Shin Min Daily News issues ready to print every afternoon.
Mr Neo and his team at the Print Centre work closely as a team, and regularly collaborate to find solutions when problems arise. He has had the opportunity to train and guide younger colleagues on how to use new machines, and hopes they will take over his responsibilities when he retires.
Berita Harian Journalist, Nur Adilah Ahmad Mahbob
Nur Adilah Ahmad Mahbob was just 18 when she started her internship with Berita Harian’s (BH) news desk in 2006. Her first assignment was covering a black metal concert, an admittedly unexpected experience for her.
“There I was, a tudung-clad lady amidst a crowd of hardcore fans,” she recalls. “It gave me a taste of what my journalism career would be like; sometimes unexpected, and often pushing me out of my comfort zone.”
Currently a Deputy News Editor, Nur Adilah’s goal is to raise awareness of important issues and tackle challenging narratives. “Whether in print, online or social media, platforms may change, but the basics of journalism - the discipline to report accurately and responsibly, and the skill to tell impactful stories - will always be non-negotiable, especially in an era where anyone can publish anything online,” she says.

SPH Radio Producer (ONE FM 91.3), Shalini Susan
Making sure our radio stations Kiss92 and ONE FM 91.3 go on air smoothly is producer Shalini Susan, who has been with SPH Media for over four years.
Her responsibilities as a producer include interview preparation, setting up daily Facebook Live streams and collaborating with other teams in the department.
Though days can start as early as 4:30 in the morning, Shalini describes her role as “the perfect example of adrenaline and unpredictability daily”. Getting to work with a team filled with amazing energy allows her to look forward to coming into the studio everyday.
Editor-in-Chief of ICON Singapore, Sylvester Ng
For over 20 years, Sylvester Ng has been a stalwart influence in the annals of SPH Media, currently steering the ship of ICON Singapore as its Editor-In-Chief.
“Nothing beats the joy of working together with my dynamic and dedicated editorial and creative team,” he says, “To put all these together issue after issue, click after click.”
On his vision - “What inspires me to work on ICON Singapore is the opportunity to curate and deliver content that encapsulates the essence of luxury and elegance, and to share success stories of newsmakers, trendsetters and gamechangers.”
