Her World appoints Elizabeth Lee as new Editor-in-Chief
Singapore, 6 December 2021 - SPH Magazines has appointed Elizabeth Lee as Editor-in-Chief of Her World, Singapore's No.1 women’s magazine. Her appointment takes effect today and she will report to Publishing Director, Joanna Lee Miller. She takes over editorship of Her World from Ng Yi Lian who leaves SPH Magazines on 17 December 2021.
At Her World, Elizabeth will be responsible for the overall content direction and strategy across the brand's multiple platforms spanning print, digital, audio-visual and social media.
Elizabeth has spent more than a decade in the media industry and most recently held the position of Editor at The Singapore Women’s Weekly where she oversaw the successful transition of the title into a fully digital publication. Under her editorship, womensweekly.com.sg saw a growth in its digital and social audiences and the site now welcomes an average of 6 million pageviews every month.
She was also the host of the ‘Great Women of Our Time’ podcast that featured notable personalities like Member of Parliament Tin Pei Ling and Shiok Meats’ co-founder Sandhya Sriram. Prior to this, she was the Editor-in-Chief of fashion publication Buro. Singapore, and has held various appointments at Tatler Singapore, Weekender, Cosmopolitan and styleXstyle.com.
Over the course of her career, Elizabeth has also worked closely with advertisers on new content marketing and storytelling ideas through videos, events and more, in the fashion, luxury, beauty, wellness, lifestyle and travel sectors. Notable projects she has worked on include a four-part video series with The Singapore Tourism Board, the launch of virtual events like Buro. Hangouts and Buro. Beauty Day during the Circuit Breaker, and Tatler Drops, a shopping series featuring luxury pieces.
On her appointment, Elizabeth said: “I grew up poring through the inspiring, beautiful pages of Her World, and I’m beyond thrilled and honoured to be on board as Editor-in-Chief of this storied title. I look forward to working closely with my talented team to create interesting, useful and culture-shaping content across our key pillars of fashion, beauty, lifestyle and features.”
She added: “Beyond trend-spotting and aspirational buys, it’s also important for us to shine the spotlight on go-getting women making a marked difference to our lives. The Singaporean woman is at the heart of why we do what we do, and some areas we’ll continue expanding on in the year ahead will include topics covering career, finance, health and wellness.”
Outgoing editor Ng Yi Lian is moving on to pursue her personal interests. During her tenure at Her World, she formed the Her World Tribe, a community of inspiring and influential women achievers and thought leaders; and spearheaded new initiatives such as Her World Pow Wow, a podcast series focusing on heart-to-heart conversations with trailblazing women, and Her World Rally - panel discussions with industry experts and like-minded women. She also launched the Her World With You series, 'live' IG sessions to connect and engage with readers and followers during Covid-19. These initiatives have set the path for continued outreach programmes and engagement activities, throwing an important spotlight on key topics and issues impacting women today.
