Singapore, 27 February 2026 – Mr Goh Sin Teck will retire in May this year after 14 years of service as Editor of Lianhe Zaobao. He will be succeeded by Ms Ang Yiting, currently Associate Editor, who will assume the role of Editor with effect from 5 May 2026.
Ms Ang, 45, brings more than 20 years of journalism experience. She holds a Bachelor of Communication Studies (Honours) from Nanyang Technological University and a Master in Public Administration from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore.
Ms Ang’s career spans television and print journalism across evening and morning newspapers, as well as print and digital platforms. As an SPH scholar, she started her career at Channel U News, and subsequently at Lianhe Wanbao, My Paper, and Lianhe Zaobao, covering a wide range of news beats. She has extensive multi-platform content production experience and played a key role in driving Zaobao’s digital transformation.
On her appointment, Ms Ang said, “From signing my scholarship bond at 18 to assuming this responsibility today with a full awareness of its weight, I feel both humbled and apprehensive, yet determined not to disappoint the trust placed in me.
It is a moment of mixed emotions. Lianhe Zaobao faces many challenges, yet it also carries enduring strengths. There are shortcomings we must confront with honesty and resolve, while never taking our core strengths for granted. From its beginnings as a newspaper to its evolution into a multi-platform, multimedia presence that extends far beyond print, my colleagues and I are deeply privileged to stand on the solid foundations built by generations of editors and journalists before us.
In a complex and rapidly changing world, we take up this baton with a commitment to walk alongside our audience, ensuring that they continue to find value and meaning in reading, watching, listening to, and engaging with Zaobao.”
Mr Goh, 63, has served as Editor since 1 August 2011. During his nearly 15-year tenure, the media industry underwent profound transformation. Under his leadership, Lianhe Zaobao evolved from a print-focused publication into a news title spanning digital, social media and print. The newsroom adapted to technological change and shifting audience habits, delivering quality journalism across digital platforms, social media, and print. After stepping down, Mr Goh will assume the role of Senior Editorial Advisor to Lianhe Zaobao.
Mr Goh said, “This announcement is about the continuity of Lianhe Zaobao. From the days of Nanyang Siang Pau and Sin Chew Jit Poh to today’s Lianhe Zaobao, every generation of editors has faced the challenges of its time. While strategies may differ, the shared conviction has remained the same – to keep Zaobao moving forward and innovating continuously to meet the changing needs of readers. I am grateful for the strong and capable team who supported me in fulfilling my mission. My leg of the relay is coming to an end, but Zaobao’s journey ahead remains long and full of promise. I am confident that Yiting and her team will continue to drive the publication forward with renewal and determination.”
Ms Lee Huay Leng, Editor-in-Chief of Chinese Media Group, SPH Media, said, “Over the years, Yiting and her peers have rotated across different departments, honed their skills, and experienced firsthand the intensity and demands of working in the Chinese Media Group. I am deeply moved that, despite the challenges, they are willing to step forward and take up the baton with courage and a strong sense of responsibility.
I would also like to thank Sin Teck and our senior colleagues, who have never hesitated to mentor the younger generation, sharing their experience generously and guiding them hand in hand. This is a cultural undertaking that is closely intertwined with our nation. We will do our utmost to safeguard it, to ensure a smooth leadership transition, and to see that this mission is carried forward from one generation to the next.
I hope everyone will give Yiting and her generation of leaders your fullest support.”
