Singapore, 23 September 2026 – Sixteen individuals and enterprises were recognised for their outstanding contributions to sustainable development and driving innovations towards a greener and more inclusive future at the 2026 Sustainability Impact Awards (SI Awards), jointly organised by The Business Times (BT) and UOB. Now in its fourth year, the awards ceremony was held at Shangri-La Singapore, where Mr Heng Swee Keat, Chairman of the National Research Foundation, was the Guest-of-Honour.

The SI Awards recognise individuals and corporates in Singapore that have demonstrated exemplary leadership in creating sustainability impact. This year, the Special Recognition Award was introduced under the Enterprise category, to recognise enterprises that have undertaken meaningful projects, initiatives, or programmes that contribute to and support the sustainability ecosystem. It aims to recognise and encourage enterprises that go beyond business-as-usual practices to make a meaningful difference to the environment and the wider ecosystem, while inspiring them to continue advancing sustainable practices and creating lasting positive change.

Berge Bulk was named the Impact Enterprise of the Year under the Large Enterprise category for pioneering bold, transformative action in a hard-to-abate sector. Ms Chong demonstrated visionary leadership in advancing both ecological innovation and food equity. She is behind the world’s tallest indoor vertical farm that was unveiled in January this year, a 14-year vision in the making. Ms Chong is also recognised for her dedication to social good through the Circular Community Programme, which has distributed over 116,000 vegetable packs to support more than 104,000 families and local organisations.

The Impact Leader Excellence Award under the Individual category was presented to two winners. They are Mr Liam Wee Sin, Group Chief Executive, UOL Group Limited, and Mr Ng Kian Swan, Chief Operating Officer, Group Facilities Management, Group Security & Group Emergency Planning, and Chair, Energy & Water Taskforce, National University Health System, and Chief Sustainability Officer and Senior Director, JurongHealth Academy, Ng Teng Fong General Hospital and Jurong Community Hospital.

The Special Recognition Award was presented to Ampotech Pte. Ltd. and KosmodeHealth Singapore Pte Ltd under the SME category, and Delta Electronics Int’l (Singapore) Pte Ltd, Housing & Development Board, and ST Engineering (Commercial Aerospace business) under the Large Enterprise category.

BT Editor, Ms Chen Huifen, said, “With a 40 per cent increase in entries this year, the 2026 Sustainability Impact Awards demonstrated an impressive leap in quality, sector diversity, and holistic impact spanning both social and environmental fronts. From hard-to-abate industries to pioneering SMEs and visionary leaders, this year's winners exemplify true sustainability leadership. We are thrilled to honour their achievements and celebrate the inaugural Special Recognition recipients who are creating meaningful multiplier effects across the regional landscape.”

Mr Wee Ee Cheong, Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, UOB, said, “The recipients of this year’s Sustainability Impact Awards remind us that sustainability is not defined by ambition alone, but by the actions we take and the impact we create. Their achievements demonstrate how businesses and individuals can turn challenges into opportunities, drive innovation, and inspire others to collaborate in building a better future together. As ASEAN works towards a more sustainable future, meaningful progress will require practical solutions, investment and strong partnerships across governments, businesses and communities. At UOB, we are proud to recognise those leading the way and hope their example will encourage more organisations to act and accelerate sustainable progress.”
