Singapore, 9 July 2025 - SPH Media Chief Executive Officer, Mr Chan Yeng Kit is on a 4-day introductory visit to Beijing, China from 7 to 10 July 2025. Key members of his delegation included Ms Lee Huay Leng, Editor-in-Chief of SPH Media’s Chinese Media Group (CMG), and Ms Loh Woon Yen, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of CMG.
The purpose of this visit is to gain insights into the latest developments, innovations, and trends shaping China’s media landscape through engagements with PRC mainstream media including China Media Group, People’s Daily, and Xinhua News Agency. The visits also include School of Journalism and Communication of Tsinghua University, technology and media companies, as well as official entities.
Over the past three days, the delegation has had fruitful exchanges with senior representatives from these organisations on the challenges faced by mainstream media around the world such as misinformation and the need for digital transformation, and explored areas of collaboration in technology, Artificial Intelligence and journalism development.
On the significance of this visit, Mr Chan said, “This is the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Singapore and China. During Prime Minister Lawrence Wong’s recent visit to China, both countries’ leaders had expressed support for deepening linkages, as well as continuing to enhance our people-to-people ties. SPH Media would like to build on the positive momentum of this bilateral cooperation and deepen sharing and exchanges with our counterparts in China on common challenges faced by mainstream media globally.”
