Rednano Chief Paul Jansen To Retire in September 2010

Singapore, 2 July 2010 - Paul Jansen, Chief Executive Officer of SPH Search, the company behind the online and mobile enhanced directory service, Rednano, will be retiring at the end of September.

He hands over the day-to-day running of SPH Search Pte Ltd to Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Johnson Goh, who is re-designated as General Manager.

Mr Jansen, 57, was appointed Chief Executive of SPH Search in September 2006 and launched Rednano.sg on March 18, 2008. The company has seen strong growth in revenue and usage in number of searches. It has won four regional and international awards for consumer innovation. It was also selected by IDA for the Digital Concierge programme to support mobile service providers by licensing its directory data to them.

Mr Jansen joined The Straits Times newspaper in 1975 as a journalist. Over the years, he held a variety of editorial positions, among them, Associate News Editor, Picture Editor, Money Editor and more recently, Editor of a daily newspaper, Streats, which was merged with Today.

He also worked outside of print : putting The Straits Times on the Internet in 1995 when there were only a handful of print newspapers on the Web; helmed the main nightly newscasts as presenter when SPH launched its own TV news operation in 2001; and was a key member of the project team which won a bid in 1994 for a mobile telephony licence, ending the monopoly of Singapore Telecom, and resulting in the launching of M1.

SPH has a 20 per cent stake in MediaCorp TV Holdings Pte Ltd, which operates free-to-air channels 5, 8 and U, and a 40 per cent stake in MediaCorp Press Limited, which publishes the free newspaper, Today. In the radio business, SPH has an 80 per cent stake in SPH UnionWorks Pte Ltd, which operates entertainment stations Radio 100.3 in Mandarin and 91.3FM in English.

Events and Outdoor Advertising

SPH’s events subsidiary Sphere Exhibits organises innovative consumer and trade events and exhibitions. In addition, SPH has ventured into out-of-home (OOH) advertising through its wholly-owned subsidiary, SPH MediaBoxOffice Pte Ltd, Singapore’s largest outdoor motion display advertising network media company.

Properties

SPH owns and manages Paragon, the prime retail and office complex in the heart of Orchard Road, Singapore's main shopping belt. SPH's wholly-owned subsidiary, Times Development Pte Ltd, has also developed a 43-storey upmarket residential condominium, Sky@eleven, at Thomson Road.
