Singapore, 22 July 2010 --- omy.sg, in collaboration with the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), will be sending ten bloggers on a 4D/3N trip to Hong Kong to experience the city's renowned Dragon Boat Carnival, as well as other exciting summer activities.
The bloggers will depart from Singapore to Hong Kong on 23 July and return on 26 July. While they are in Hong Kong, these online wordsmiths will be filing blog entries to share their experiences with Singapore readers. They will also be submitting Twitter feeds in Hong Kong to give the latest updates on their travel itinerary.
Readers will get to vote for their favourite blogger’s itinerary and stand a chance to win a trip to Hong Kong.
The ten bloggers are selected from over 1000 bloggers who participated in this year's Singapore Blog Awards (http://sgblogawards.omy.sg). They are either the top-prize or first runner-up winner in the ten main categories.
Notable bloggers who will be travelling to Hong Kong include Violet Lim, co-founder of Lunch Actually, Asia’s first lunch dating company and Gin Oh, a full-time blog-shop operator who is the only blogger who won the Singapore Blog Awards two years in a row. They will be blogging on their area of interests on this trip.
For instance, veteran food blogger Catherine Ling will be focusing on her gastronomic adventures in her entries.
Catherine said: “As a food blogger, I love to plan my holidays and trips around food. I did that for Japan in 2007 and now I have a chance to do that for Hong Kong!”
The core itinerary planned for the bloggers is in celebration of Festive Hong Kong 2010 (2010香港节庆年), a year-long celebration packed with exciting activities that offers visitors a taste of Hong Kong's unique East-meets-West cultural experience.
One of the highlights for the bloggers is taking part in the "Bath Tub Race", held in conjunction with the Dragon Boat Carnival. Four of the bloggers - Violet Lim, Peter Breitkreutz, Ang Geck Geck and Darren Ng - will represent omy.sg in the 100m race which requires them to row a bath-tub in pairs against representatives from other international media.
HKTB hopes to leverage on the positive experience of the bloggers to showcase the city's cultural diversity from entertainment, festivities, shopping to dining, and hopefully to lure more visitors to this vibrant city.
Please see attached Appendix A for the itinerary of the omy.sg bloggers in Hong Kong and Appendix B for the list of ten bloggers.
