Streaming also accessible via affiliated websites
Singapore, 2 August 2010 – From today onwards, listeners will be able to tune in to 91.3FM and Radio 100.3 online, not just through its respective websites at www.radio913.com and at www.radio1003.com, but also across other SPH-owned websites: www.omy.sg, www.razor.tv, www.asiaone.com, www.stomp.com.sg and www.straitstimes.com.
All listeners need to do is click on the “listen live” button(s) located on the home pages of the above websites, effectively putting thousands of users with free and unlimited access to the station’s music and diverse program segments.
Audio equipment will no longer be a necessity as everyone will be able to listen to the radio network virtually. Listeners can catch their favourite radio programs and music live at any time, any day.
Programme Director for Radio 100.3, Mr Wong Woon Hong said: “Our listeners have been looking forward to the arrival of our online broadcast. Those working in an office environment can also stay connected with 100.3FM online. All this while, we have had quite a following from overseas, such as France, Japan, London, Malaysia and China. I believe they are eagerly looking forward to it.”
Mr Jamie Meldrum, Programme Director for 91.3FM said: "Our listeners have been clamoring for it and after months of negotiation, the whole team at 91.3FM are thrilled to be able to reactivate our stream with better than FM quality sound and a hot new iphone app on the way in August 2010."
The partnership with the other SPH-owned websites will not only expand the listernership on the radio websites but help strengthen its online presence.
Mr Felix Soh, Digital Media Editor, EMND for SPH, said: "Having 91.3FM and Radio 100.3 streamed live on our websites will make them 360 degrees in dimension. Engagement with our users will be higher. It's a plus for both parties -- we enrich our offerings and the radio stations get to expand their listenership."
“With the launch of Radio 100.3 and 91.3FM radio streaming online, it serves to value-add the benefits of internet radio through boundless accessibility and entertainment to users. The ability to reach out significantly to a wider target audience is both a major asset to our web portal and radio stations,” said Mr Chua Chim Kang, Editor, Lianhe Wanbao and Omy.sg
Following the recent increase in listenership for both radio stations, it is anticipated that the online streaming will also translate into the further expansion of new listeners. Topline survey results in June 2010 showed the highest jump of 87,000 new listeners for 91.3FM and 29,000 new listeners for Radio 100.3 among its radio competitors. This is aligned with SPH UnionWorks’ commitment to accelerate growth in its air broadcast, providing advertisers with greater opportunities for them to reach out to the online audience. Effectively, this enables advertisers to utilise the benefits of live streaming and amplify their reach on one of the fastest growing media platforms.
