Singapore, 24 August 2010 – Built with new functionalities and features to aptly serve the requirements of spreers and spree organisers, the new ST701 Spree is a comprehensive, all-in-one platform that serves to engage the online shopping community with the integration of a full-fledged communication and transaction management module.
Previously, users could shop at ST701 Spree via more than 100 US merchants, with a vendor who provided third party shipping services. With a buoyant online shopping scene driven by rapid growth and better business sentiments, this is an opportune time for ST701 Spree to launch a new system to extend its reach.
The new ST701 Spree is an all-inclusive facility that allows consolidated interactions and live updates of shopping activities. It will offer more exciting choices to users who will benefit from a streamlined, integrated e-shopping process.
Miss Elsie Chua, Executive Vice-President of CATS Classified, Marketing Division said: “ST701 is committed to delivering an excellent resource for spreers and spree organisers. The effort is in line with our drive to initiate and spearhead trends in the new market and deliver a best-fit product to match the needs of our users.”
The new ST701 Spree has broadened its merchant directory to include close to 1,000 merchants from eight countries including the US, UK, Australia, China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. Member registration is free and users can share discount codes amongst various merchants and enjoy renewals of promotions all year round.
Like social sites such as Twitter and Facebook, ST701 Spree has an online community element where users can interact with other spreers and spree organisers. For example, users can refer to live updates of shopping/delivery statuses and enjoy the ease of bulk purchases and quick resolutions (in cases of disputes or order discrepancies). The site also boasts an interactive factor which actively engages users. For example, they could ‘become a fan’ of pages they like and further partake in related, threaded activities of their interest.
To add buzz to the launch, ST701 Spree will be giving away attractive cash and shopping voucher prizes to avid users between now and 6 October 2010. vPOST is also collaborating with ST701 Spree to offer discounts.

First launched on March 24, 2006 as a job portal, ST701 carries the initials of The Straits Times, Singapore Press Holdings’ flagship newspaper and Singapore´s national English broadsheet. The numbers “701” convey what the user will experience: 7 days a week search at the 01 place that matters.
Over the course of one and a half years, ST701 expanded its scope to include motoring, property and general classifieds. Now, ST701 comprises four verticals, namely: ST701 Jobs; ST701 Cars; ST701 Property; and ST701 Shops. Collectively, the four verticals span the full range of classified advertisements, and ST701 is now CATS Classified´s e-marketplace on the Internet.
