Singapore, 22 October 2010 - Following a review of its online portfolio, SPH has decided to realign its Singapore directory search business to achieve better synergy with its other digital offerings and achieve greater efficiency.
This entails relocating the bulk of the directory listings now managed by its subsidiary, SPH Search, under the brand name of Rednano, to various verticals within ST701, SPH's online classified portal. Rednano's mobile advertising offerings will be transferred to SPH's Internet Business Unit (IBU) so the latter can develop a full-fledged advertising network providing advertisers with not only display advertising but also a suite of mobile and other services.
With this consolidation, relevant directory listings can be shared across all SPH's online properties from ST701's Shop to Diva and Soshiok, resulting in wider exposure and more effective reach for directory advertisers. Similarly, mobile users and advertisers will be plugged onto IBU's extensive network covering everything from AsiaOne to Zaobao Online.
The entire exercise, which will lead to a more efficient pooling of SPH's sales and marketing effort as well as technological resources, is expected to be completed in about a month's time.
Ms Elsie Chua, Chairman of SPH Search and Executive Vice President of CATS Classified and ST701, said:"Players in the online world have to be nimble in adapting to rapidly changing business conditions to stay competitive. This is why we are realigning our directory search business. This realignment would give us greater focus on providing long tail advertisers and users with an integrated platform for classified and directory services."
