SPH launches brand new health magazine, Wellness No.1

Singapore, 18 February 2011 --- Wellness No.1, a brand new English magazine focusing on health and wellness published by the Chinese Newspapers Division of Singapore Press Holdings (SPH), will be launched on 24 February 2011.

Mr Khaw Boon Wan, Minister for Health, will officiate the launch of the new health magazine at the Paragon Atrium.

This is the first English health publication produced by the Chinese Newspapers Division (CND), following the success of Health No.1《健康No.1》, a Chinese magazine focusing on health-related issues which was launched in 2009. The inaugural issue of Health No.1, a quarterly publication, was completely sold out within one month of its launch, making it the best-selling Chinese quarterly health magazine in Singapore.

Wellness No. 1 offers the best of both Western medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). One of the magazine's unique features is its ability to bring together a panel of close to 50 Western doctors, TCM physicians, pharmacists, nutritionists and other health experts to share their knowledge and information with readers.

Mr Robin Hu, Senior Executive Vice President of Chinese Newspapers & Newspaper Services, said: “We hope the publication will be an authoritative English language health-related magazine that brings readers the best of Western medicine and TCM practices for a healthy lifestyle.”

Ms Magdalene Thniah, Editor of Wellness No.1, said: "Wellness No. 1 is a very unique product. It offers the English literate the opportunity to tap into Western medicine and TCM, and shows how they could complement each other to promote a healthy community. This is something we rarely find in local magazines."

Wellness No.1, which retails at S$8 a copy, will go on sale from 24 February 2011 at all major bookstores, Buzz pods and newsstands.

Health No.1 is a best-selling Chinese quarterly health and lifestyle magazine in Singapore.
