Nine more Reader’s Choice categories for Tech Awards 2011

HWM, Singapore’s leading tech magazine, and, Singapore’s No.1 technology online portal, paid tribute to 39 companies by giving out 69 awards at the Tech Awards today.

Thirty-two Editor’s Choice and 37 Reader’s Choice awards were handed out in categories ranging from computers and consumer electronics to communications and digital entertainment. These awards honour industry players who have introduced products of exceptional quality, innovation and performance between December 2009 and November 2010.

Nine new categories were added to the Reader’s Choice awards this year, including the Best Mirrorless Camera Brand and Best Tablet Brand. The additions were made after organisers took into consideration readers’ feedback and for the Awards to reflect the ever changing technology landscape.

For the Editor's Choice awards, HWM and identified 167 products in 32 categories. The nominees were selected because they provide benefits, value and significant advancement for consumers. These were then meticulously tested and benchmarked in HWZ Labs, where a panel of experts finally shortlisted them to 32 Editor’s Choice awards winners.

Mr Vijay Anand, Editor of, said: “The Tech Awards is the only event in the region where tech products and services are honoured with Editor’s Choices for their innovation and impact on our lives. The Reader’s Choice awards, on the other hand, are given based on readers’ votes.”

Readers of HWM and the online community in voted for their preferred brands from more than 80 brands that were competing for the Reader’s Choice awards. More than 80,000 votes were received, some from readers who voted via their mobile devices – a new option offered to readers this year.
