Singapore, 8 September 2011 – After a gruelling preliminary round, 16 finalists will battle it out at the Shin Min Arm Wrestling Challenge (新明角力竞赛) Grand Finals this Saturday (10 September) to find out who will be the ultimate winner in their respective categories.
Into its third year, the Shin Min Arm Wrestling Challenge is organised by Singapore Press Holdings' evening daily Shin Min Daily News and sponsored by Dester Beer.
The preliminary round was held on 3 September and 66 men competed for a much coveted spot in the Grand Finals. On Saturday, 16 finalists across two categories will compete with each other to determine the Champion at the end of the evening. This challenge is for men aged 21 years and above only. The oldest finalist is 45 years old, and the youngest is 21 years old.
Competitors will be vying for $10,000 worth of cash prizes. The Champion of each of the two categories ("70kg and below" category and "above 70kg" category) wins $2,000, a trophy and a Dester Beer hamper.
Besides catching the action on stage, audiences will be entertained by popular Getai artistes Liu Ling Ling, as well as Hao Hao and the SWEE group from Taiwan. There will also be fringe activities on-site to engage the audience.
The ladies in the audience are not left out from the action. Those who are game for it can go on stage to take part in the special "Ladies Challenge" and pit themselves against one another.
The Shin Min Arm Wrestling Challenge 2011 events will be hosted by popular Radio 100.3 DJs Huang Wenhong and Li Mei.
Prizes for each category
– 1st Prize: $2,000, Trophy and Dester Beer Hamper
– 2nd Prize: $1,000 and Dester Beer Hamper
– 3rd Prize: $800 and Dester Beer Hamper
– 4th Prize: $400 and Dester Beer Hamper
– 5th to 8th Prize: $200 and Dester Beer Hamper
