Singapore, 13 October 2011 - Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) and Singapore Press Holdings Foundation (SPH Foundation) have been honoured with the Corporate Platinum Award by the Community Chest for the 2nd consecutive year.
This afternoon, SPH and SPH Foundation were presented with the award by President Tony Tan, who is the Patron-in-Chief of the National Council of Social Service (NCSS). Community Chest is the fundraising arm of NCSS.
The Corporate Platinum Award is given to organisations that contribute $300,000 or more to the Community Chest within a financial year.
SPH and SPH Foundation are steadfast supporters of the Community Chest. Each year, SPH and SPH Foundation work closely with the Community Chest to offer financial support to young and old beneficiaries who receive the much needed services from the voluntary welfare organisations.
Ms Ginney Lim, SPH's Executive Vice President of Corporate Communications and General Manager of SPH Foundation, said: "We are proud to be honoured once again for our unstinting support to the Community Chest. Despite the uncertain economic climate, we stay committed to help the needy in our community. Besides our corporate donations in cash and kind, our staff also adopt different charities throughout the year."
In August this year, SPH was honoured with the President's Social Service Award (PSSA), a highly prestigious award conferred by the Office of the President of the Republic of Singapore for outstanding voluntary contributions made to the social service sector. SPH was the only winner in the Corporate category.
In the same month, SPH bagged another award for Corporate Social Responsibility at the Singapore HR Awards 2011 organised by the Singapore Human Resources Institute.
Besides contributing to charitable causes, SPH also supports the arts, education, conservation and sports. Last month, SPH was honoured with the Distinguished Patron of the Arts Award by the National Arts Council for the 19th consecutive year, while the SPH Foundation received the Arts Supporter Award.
