Lianhe Zaobao hosts 44th Convention of the World Chinese Language Press Institute

Singapore, 23 November 2011 -  The 44th Convention of the World Chinese Language Press Institute  (世界中文报业协会)will be held from 28 to 29 November 2011 at Resorts World Sentosa, Singapore. 
Organised by Singapore Press Holdings' Lianhe Zaobao, the theme of the two-day convention is "New Content, New Platforms, New Opportunities". About 150 media industry leaders from Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Japan, Korea and Singapore are expected at this annual event, which was last held in Singapore back in 1989 and 1993.
With the objective of bringing together media professionals from the world's leading Chinese press, the Convention will provide the opportunity for publishers, renowned speakers and journalists to interact and share their valuable experiences with one another.
Mr Christoph Riess, Group Chief Executive of the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA), and Ms Lily Lu, Executive Director of SND Chinese, will share insights and global trends of media development. Other keynote speakers include Mr Chen Shun-hsiao, Associate Professor at Taiwan's Fujen Catholic University's Department of Journalism and Communication Studies, and Mr Leslie Fong, Senior Executive Vice President of SPH's Marketing Division.
In addition, Mr Thomas Chen, Business Development Director for Weibo of Sina Corp, will join Lianhe Zaobao Editor, Mr Goh Sin Teck, and Chief Executive Officer of Sing Tao News Corp, Mr Lo Wing Hung, in a forum on 29 November.
The President of the Republic of Singapore, Dr Tony Tan Keng Yam,  will be gracing the opening ceremony as the Guest-of-Honour on 28 November.

Events and Out-of-Home Advertising
SPH’s events subsidiary Sphere Exhibits organises innovative consumer and trade events and exhibitions. In addition, SPH has ventured into out-of-home (OOH) advertising through its wholly-owned subsidiary, SPH MediaBoxOffice Pte Ltd, Singapore’s leading Digital Out-of-Home advertising company.
SPH owns and manages Paragon, the prime retail and office complex in the heart of Orchard Road, Singapore's main shopping belt. Its latest retail development, The Clementi Mall, started business operations in 2011. SPH's wholly-owned subsidiary, Times Development Pte Ltd, has also developed a 43-storey upmarket residential condominium, Sky@eleven, at Thomson Road.
