Singapore, 8 March 2013 – This year, the Singapore Entertainment Awards (SEA) will culminate in an exciting outdoor concert at Gardens by the Bay as SEA collaborates with Taiwan's biggest outdoor music festival, the Spring Wave Music Festival or 春浪音乐节.
For the fifth year running, the SEA is organised by Singapore Press Holdings Ltd (SPH) and fronted by SPH’s leading entertainment media platforms Lianhe Wanbao, UFM 100.3, U-Weekly and omy.sg. The SEA serves to honour the best talents and the movers and shakers of the Asian Entertainment scene in the past year.
During the month of February, judging on the "Best" categories was carried out by a panel of respected professionals in the entertainment and media industry in Singapore and the region. Public voting for the “Most Popular” categories commenced on 28 February and is currently on-going till 10 April.
The results of SEA 2013 will be announced in mid-April. Thereafter, SEA 2013 will honour the winners in a special SEA Award Music Showcase segment at the inaugural Spring Wave Singapore Music Festival (春浪新加坡音乐节) on 4 May at The Meadows, Gardens by the Bay.
The internationally renowned Spring Wave Music Festival is an annual outdoor music festival held in Kenting, Taiwan with more than 20,000 attendees every year since its inception eight years ago. This is the first time that Taiwan's number one outdoor music festival is breaking into the Southeast-Asian market, and its first stop will be Singapore before heading to Hong Kong.
Headlining the Spring Wave Singapore Music Festival are Taiwanese rockers Wu-Bai, Jam Hsiao and Chang Chen-yue. Other stars that will be performing at the festival include Cheer Chen, Joanna Wang as well as Singapore's very own Olivia Ong. Some of Singapore's most outstanding and promising talents will be making their appearances at the SEA Award Music Showcase.
Mr Chua Chim Kang, Editor of Lianhe Wanbao and Chairman of Organising Committee for SEA 2013, said: "The Singapore Entertainment Awards has seen great success in the past four years, with a successful regional media showcase held in Taiwan last year. This year, the awards will continue to establish itself as a key entertainment award in the region by collaborating with Taiwan’s number one outdoor music festival, Spring Wave Music Festival. With this collaboration, we hope to create a new platform to showcase Singapore’s singing talents talents and bring our award to greater heights with the regional reach.”
With the ever growing popularity of Korean entertainment, this year's awards added two new categories, namely the Most Popular Music Video (Korea) and Most Popular Korea TV Actor/Actress awards.
