This is the first time the internationally renowned outdoor music festival is being held outsideTaiwan. Tiger Beer is the Presenting Sponsor of the Spring Wave Singapore Music Festival.
Making their appearances at the SEA Award Music Showcase are home-grown award-winning artistes Ming Bridges (乔毓明) and The Freshman comprising Chen Diya (陈迪雅) and Carrie Yeo (杨佳盈). Ming Bridges won in the Best Local Singer and Best Local Album categories for her work on her album 《明天》, while Chen and Yeo won in the Best Local Lyrics category for their song《眼镜矇矇的》. They will perform this year’s award-winning entries together with other local singers.
Making her debut performance in Singapore at the SEA Award Music Showcase is Taiwanese singer-songwriter Bai An (白安), the winner for “Most Popular Regional Newcomer” and the prestigious “Singapore Entertainment Award Media Award – Newcomer of the Year”.
The winners of the "Most Popular" and "Best" categories for SEA 2013 were announced earlier. More than 3 million votes were cast by fans online and via SMS for the "Most Popular" categories during the voting period as compared to the 1.13 million online and SMS votes last year.
The 12 "Best" awards, announced on 19 April, were judged by a panel of respected professionals in the entertainment and media industry in Singapore and the region.
Two additional awards were given out this year. They were the “Singapore Entertainment Award Media Award – Concert of the Year” which went to A-Mei’s AMeiZing World Tour (张惠妹AMeiZing世界巡回演唱会) and the “Singapore Entertainment Award Media Award – Newcomer of the Year”, which was clinched by Bai An.
Headlining the Spring Wave Singapore Music Festival are Taiwanese rockers Wu-Bai (伍佰）, Jam Hsiao（萧敬腾） and Chang Chen-yue （张震岳）. Other stars who will be performing at the festival include Cheer Chen （陈绮贞）, Joanna Wang （王若琳）, and homegrown singerOlivia Ong.
