Lianhe Wanbao's charity drive raised more than $140,000 for charity

Fourth beneficiary Yong-en Care Centre to receive $33,000

Singapore, 13 June 2013 –
 Lianhe Wanbao, an evening daily of Singapore Press Holdings (SPH), celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2013 with the theme “晚报真情30” or “Wanbao – 30 Years of Dedication”. 

As part of its celebrations, Lianhe Wanbao had initiated a charity drive campaign called "
一分钱、一份情、买晚报、献爱心" or “A Heart of Gold Starts with a Cent” in February, and has been making donations to various charity organisations. Today, Lianhe Wanbao will be presenting a cheque for $33,000 to Yong-en Care Centre. 

Since March, Lianhe Wanbao has made donations to different charity organisations each month. They are:

  • Thong Chai Medical Institution - $33,000
  • Singapore Buddhist Lodge - $45,743
  • "Big Love" Child Protection Service by Marine Parade Family Service Centre - $34,000
  • Yong-En Care Centre - $33,000

I'm sure the beneficiaries are most delighted to know that the community is behind them, and they are not alone in facing their challenges in life. Besides this charity drive, other activities that Lianhe Wanbao has organised for its readers this year include:

  • An outdoor healthy living mass workout event on 13 January
  • Royal Caribbean Cruises “Best of Malaysia” 4D3N cruise tour with Lianhe Wanbao’s renowned food critic 阿伦 or Alan Ng from 1 – 4 March
  • An anniversary charity event titled "晚报真情30爱心关怀日" on 9 March, which featured a special edition of its popular CoffeeTalk series with Chinese billionaire entrepreneur and philanthropist Chen Guangbiao as guest speaker
  • Special coupon promotions in Lianhe Wanbao’s 30th anniversary supplement on 16 March
  • Annual Lianhe Wanbao Health & Beauty Fair from 4 – 5 May at the Sands Expo and Convention Center
  • 30th Anniversary Taiwan Gourmet Food Pairing event on 12 May.

Events and Out-of-Home Advertising
SPH’s events arm Sphere Exhibits organises innovative consumer and trade events and exhibitions as well as large scale conferences in Singapore and the region. In addition, SPH has ventured into out-of-home (OOH) advertising through its digital out-of-home platform SPH MediaBoxOffice.

SPH owns and manages Paragon, the prime retail and office complex in the heart of Orchard Road, Singapore's main shopping belt.
