Kiss92 zooms to No. 3 spot!

All three SPH UnionWorks radio stations are in the Top 10

Singapore, 20 June 2013 – The results are out! In the latest Nielsen Radio Diary Survey released today, Kiss 92, the newest radio launched by Singapore Press Holdings' subsidiary, SPH UnionWorks, in September 2012, scored a quantum leap in listenership to 419,000 – up from 151,000 in the previous survey. 

Kiss92 is now ranked 3rd amongst the English radio stations here, just behind MediaCorp’s Class95 and Gold 90. The two other SPH UnionWorks radio stations, HOT FM91.3 and UFM 100.3, also put up an impressive show. 

HOT FM91.3 gained 20,000 more listeners to hit 331,000 listeners in this survey. It is now ranked just behind Kiss92 at number 4. UFM 100.3, the only Mandarin station in the SPH UnionWorks stable, saw a 52,000 increase in listenership from 264,000 in the past survey to 316,000. 

With the outstanding performance of SPH UnionWorks radio stations – most other stations saw falls in their listenership – all three SPH UnionWorks stations are now in the top 10.

Digital listenership for all three stations have also been on an upward trend with Kiss92 enjoying the biggest growth from 361,025 in September 2012 to more than 2.8 million in May 2013, followed by UFM 100.3’s 50% growth in digital streaming, putting the figure at 800,000. HOT FM91.3’s digital streaming figures have been consistently growing to nearly 1.5 million in May 2013.

Commenting on the results, Mr. Jamie Meldrum, Senior Program Director for Kiss92 and HOT FM 91.3, said: “We embarked on several market studies prior to the launch of Kiss92 and this has proven more fruitful than we imagined. The team has been eagerly anticipating the results as fan feedback and digital listenership have been terrific. We intend to keep up the momentum by giving our fans much more of what they love.”

Ms. Carine Ang, Program Director for UFM 100.3, said: “The station has undergone changes in its programming and line-up in the past months to ensure that it’s more relevant to our core audience aged 35 – 44. The results show we are on the right track and the team will aim for even deeper engagement with our fans.” 

Since its launch in September 2012, Kiss92 has been rolling out a slew of station and partner activities to engage fans on-air, online and on ground. On-air programming, led by the morning team of Maddy Barber, Jason Johnson and Arnold Gay, has also scored with Kiss92’s female target audience.

HOT FM91.3, SPH’s other English radio station that targets those under the age of 30, has also been actively engaging fans through events such as HOT School Attacks and HOT Dates with artiste, and especially online where the DJs’ posts & tweets have constantly trended on social media platforms. The HOT Breakfast with BT (Boy Thunder), Adam and Josh took over the helm of the morning drive-time show and made news with their longest radio broadcast marathon record early this year. In addition, Shan Wee joined the HOT FM91.3 team and helms the evening drive-time show with Cheryl Miles on The Shan and Cheryl Show. 

UFM 100.3 has stepped up its music playlist and talk show topics to ensure that it is relevant to the core audience. The station’s line-up has also been tweaked - veteran DJs Wenhong, Limei, Xiaozhu and Yan Wei helm the morning show while DJs Anna and Jingyun engage listeners in the evening. The lunchtime programme is hosted by Yuling from 10am to 2pm followed by Liangquan from 2pm to 5pm.

The HOT FM91.3 line-up includes the HOT Breakfast with BT, Adam and Josh in the mornings from 6am to 10pm. JJ plays non-stop hits from 10am to 4pm followed by The Shan & Cheryl Show during the evening time belt from 4pm to 7.30pm. Charmaine Yee of the HOT 30 Countdown rounds up the day with the daily fan rated chart show.

The newest radio station to hit the local FM market, Kiss92, launched on 3 September 2012 targets women and families. It provides in-depth women and family content, coupled with adult contemporary music. Women aged 30 and above, and families will find the channel informative and entertaining. 

Kiss92 brings on experts to share their knowledge on topics such as Relationships and Family Matters, Health and Wellness issues, Financial Planning and Career Advancements. It also covers Fashion and Beauty, Shopping, Entertainment, as well as offer listings of family friendly and community events. Tapping on its collaboration with SPH Magazines, 

Maddy, Jason and Arnold in the morning start the day from 6am to 10pm followed by Claressa Monteiro jazzing up the afternoon from 10am to 4pm. John Klass takes fans home helming the 4pm to 8pm show.

UFM 100.3 is a highly-charged Mandarin infotainment station targeting at working professionals aged between 35 – 49 years that is specially catered to their lifestyle. Its creative, lively and engaging delivery style is able to consistently hook listeners on for a far longer period of listening. Program content is designed to cater specifically for the busy individuals with timely updates and discussion on current affairs, health and wellness, financial planning, property investment, communication, lifestyle, music and entertainment. 

The station’s drive-time programmes are anchored by veteran DJs Wenhong, Limei and Xiaozhu in the morning, and DJs Anna and Jingyun in the evening. Lunch time programme is helmed by Yuling from 10am to 2pmfollowed by Liangquan from 2pm to 5pm.

The station actively engages its listeners through various interactive events such as dinner gatherings and enrichment workshops. To further strengthen loyalty, DJs also reaches out to the public through its outdoor activations, conducting games and giveaway prizes while introducing the station to new potential listeners. UFM 100.3 also supports various community, non-profit and charity organizations with its annual U-Shine program that raises public awareness of lesser known causes and charities.
