The New Paper celebrates 25th Anniversary with TNP Mardi Gras

Singapore, 26 July – On Friday 26 July, The New Paper turns 25 and they are celebrating in style with a street-style birthday bash – the TNP Mardi Gras @ The Courtyard party. For one special evening, The Courtyard at Robertson Walk will transform into a colourful party central.

Mr Ken Jalleh Jr, the creative editor of The New Paper, said: "In a uniquely TNP way, we wanted to create another first, to reflect the vibrancy and colour of the streets and of TNP. Thus the mardi gras theme. But this is only the start of our year-long celebrations. Readers can look forward to even bigger, more eventful surprises in the months ahead."

The festivities will begin at 5pm with face-painting and free balloon sculpture giveaways, followed by an exciting line-up of live performances and a dance party till late. The pulsating beats of batucada performers will drum up the excitement level and sequinned samba dancers in feathered headgear will entertain with their moves. 

Party goers will be enthralled as they watch the dance floor light up under the night sky with LED dancers and a fire dancer. 

They will also be among the first to see the TNP New Face 2013 finalists up close and rub shoulders with the finalists of Manhunt Singapore 2013 and Miss World Singapore 2013.

At 10pm, there will be the first ever Silent Party at 10pm, where party goers can put on headsets and dance late into the night to the hottest tracks by renowned DJs George Leong and Andrew T, who will both be spinning live at the TNP Mardi Gras. 

Tickets are available at $25 a pair. Each pair of tickets come with more than $250 worth of goodies. Revellers can quench their thirst as the tickets can be used to redeem four 42 Below vodka mixers and two Asahi mini beer cans at the party. For those who prefer non-alcoholic drinks, there will be sparkling H-Two-O available. 

In addition, each pair of tickets comes with two $20 Hosted On The Patio vouchers, two $20 TM Lewin vouchers, $100 worth of House Of Seafood vouchers, four $10 Harley-Davidson apparel vouchers and two $25 Odoyo mobile phone cover vouchers.

Ticket-holders will also get to enjoy discounts and deals at selected tenants at Robertson Walk from 26 July to 31 December

Party goers are encouraged to go to the party decked out in their eye-grabbing Mardi Gras best. The top five best-dressed will each win a hotel stay at Riverview Hotel.

Broadcasting

In the radio business, SPH has a 92.9% per cent stake in SPH UnionWorks Pte Ltd, which operates entertainment stations UFM 100.3 in Mandarin, as well as Kiss92 and HOT FM91.3 in English. SPH has a 20 per cent stake in MediaCorp TV Holdings Pte Ltd, which operates free-to-air channels 5, 8 and U, and a 40 per cent stake in MediaCorp Press Limited, which publishes the free newspaper, Today. 


Events and Out-of-Home Advertising

SPH’s events arm Sphere Exhibits organises innovative consumer and trade events and exhibitions as well as large scale conferences in Singapore and the region. In addition, SPH has ventured into out-of-home (OOH) advertising through its digital out-of-home platform SPH MediaBoxOffice.


Properties

SPH owns and manages Paragon, the prime retail and office complex in the heart of Orchard Road, Singapore's main shopping belt. Its second retail development, The Clementi Mall, started business operations in 2011. SPH's wholly-owned subsidiary, Times Development Pte Ltd, has also developed a 43-storey upmarket residential condominium, Sky@eleven, at Thomson Road. SPH‘s latest retail development project, The Seletar Mall, is slated for completion by end 2014.
