Franchising & Licensing Asia 2013 to showcase more than 100 local and international brands

Singapore, 21 August - Franchising & Licensing Asia (FLAsia) 2013 - The International Event for Entrepreneurship, Business Opportunities & Intellectual Property Rights in Asia, will be held from 3 – 5 October 2013at Level 1 Hall B, Sands Expo & Convention Center, Marina Bay Sands Singapore. It is organised by BizLink Exhibition Services Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of Singapore Press Holdings.

The theme for the eighth edition of FLAsia is “From Dreams to Reality”. The event allows franchisors to congregate with potential franchisees and investors, thereby aiding their expansion and success. Visitors can also turn their dreams into reality with the array of franchise options available. 

More than 150 international franchises and brands from Australia, Singapore, Thailand, UK, Spain, USA, Malaysia, Hong Kong, among others, will be present, representing industries such as food & beverage, retail, education, as well as health & wellness.

The event will also showcase the largest South Korea Pavilion in the history of FLAsia. Other country pavilions include Singapore and USA.

Together with an International Conference & Workshop which looks at the latest developments and opportunities in the franchise industry, this annual exhibition and conference bring together industry leaders and provide insights on best practices.

Keynote speaker Bret Cunningham, International Vice President from Smoothie King will be sharing on the topic “Advancing into Asia on an Accelerated Growth Plan”. Bret previously held various positions leading high profile projects in his eight years with the Store Development Global Strategy, Design, and Construction Departments at Starbucks Coffee Company. Known for his analytical approach in the development and execution of long term corporate strategies, Bret also spent 10 years overseeing large design-build projects, including universities and prisons, with other Fortune 500 companies such as Kellogg Brown & Root, a subsidiary of Halliburton and with Centex. Bret holds a bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering and recently graduated with his CFE designation.

Visitors can gain insight on pertinent franchise issues from roundtable discussions with Intellectual Property Office of Singapore, DIA Brand Consultants Pte Ltd, BreadTalk Pte Ltd, Angeline Suparto Law Corporation, and Hall & Partners. 

In conjunction with the International Conference, there are also tips on Evaluating a Franchise at a 3-hour interactive FLAsia workshop. The workshop is led by Albert Kong (CFE, CMC, Senior PMC, and CEO), Clarence Nah (General Manager and Resident Consultant) and Christine Rovina Cheung (Consulting Director) of Asiawide Franchise Consultants.

Franchising and Licensing Association (Singapore) (FLA), started as Singapore's national franchise body. It was one of the founding members of the World Franchise Council. FLA, formerly known as
