It is Official! HOT FM91.3 broke the Guinness World Record

Singapore, 23 August 2013 – Singapore’s number one hit music station, SPH UnionWorks' HOT FM91.3, has achieved a world record following the attempt to break the record for the Longest Marathon for a Radio Music Show DJ – Team.

In their attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest radio show for a duo, HOT FM91.3 DJs Gerald Koh (better known as Boy Thunder or BT) and Adam Piperdy spent 77 hrs 11 mins doing their show live in a glass container at Plaza Singapura, spreading the message to bring happiness everywhere with StarHub Mobile. Starting their show from 20 March 2013, Wednesday at 6am, Boy Thunder and Adam were positive about completing the task. As the days progressed, it was clear that the weather was one of the main challenges they had to overcome. Nevertheless, the support from their fans and members of the public made them more determined to continue and complete the challenge.

The previous record of 74 hrs 03 mins was held by Christopher Firth and Richard Parker at Hatch End High School Academy in Harrow, Middlesex, United Kingdom, from 18 to 21 January 2013.

When told of the confirmation from Guinness World RecordsBoy Thunder said: “We thought it was just a joke, as the attempt was made about four months ago and during the attempt, we heard that there were other stations overseas attempting to break the same record. It is definitely great news but what is more important is the stronger bond between Adam, Josh and I, and the friendships forged with the fans.”

Adam had just four simple words: “Yes! I love it!”

BT, Adam and Josh now helm the evening show from 4pm to 7.30pm every weekday while Shan Wee and Cheryl Miles start the day with The Shan and Cheryl show from 6am every weekday.

Come September, HOT FM91.3 will embark on another challenge – Shan and Cheryl will attempt to attend 48 parties in 48 hours. Fans simply have to tune in to HOT FM91.3 to find out how they can be part of the fun.
