Singapore to host inaugural AsiaEducationExpo 2013 and conferences

Event to showcase the industry’s latest technology for learning, instruction and performance; a platform to exchange new trends and ideas for holistic learning

Singapore, 28 October 2013  Sphere Exhibits, the events, roadshows, and exhibitions arm of Singapore Press Holdings (SPH), today announced the inaugural edition of the AsiaEducationExpo 2013 (AEX2013). As Southeast Asia's premier education platform, it will showcase the industry's latest trends, technology, learning tools and ideas for every stage of learning, as well as new and emerging instruction in the development of holistic learning.

In collaboration with SEAMEO RELC (Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Language Centre), AEX2013 will be held from 20 to 22 November 2013 at the Singapore Expo Hall 2. The event promises three days of networking, thought-leadership, industry collaboration, and sharing of ideas that inspire continuous learning.

Mr. Chua Wee Phong, Chairman of Sphere Exhibits, said: "We are delighted to launch the inaugural AEX2013 in Singapore, a step closer to realising the country’s aspiration as a regional education hub. Unlike other education trade shows, AEX 2013, with the theme Enriching Asia through Holistic Education, is a unique and refreshing platform showcasing the latest technology and solutions offerings that address the learning requirements – inside and outside the classroom, from pre-nursery to formal education, training requirements, and more.”

AsiaEducationExpo2013: Enriching Asia through holistic education

AEX2013 will showcase new ways of instruction and best practices that encourage and motivate learning; provide insights into emerging trends in training, development and education; and highlight new and emerging solutions offerings from educational and instructional technology providers. The focus areas include: Learning Technology, Learning Content, and Pedagogic Strategies.

  • Learning Technology  highlighting the latest in educational ICT solutions that can help speed up learning; learning alternatives that can be accessed at home, schools, workplaces or anywhere outside the classroom; and content distribution networks, multimedia platforms, as well as hardware and software that meet the needs of education and training institutions in Singapore and across the region.
  • Learning Content  presenting world-class publishers, media companies, technical publishers, research houses, as well as editorial, translation services, and more.
  • Pedagogy and Instructional Strategies  featuring solutions and IT-enabled teaching methods to enhance the learning and development experience – both inside and outside the classroom – encouraging a new paradigm shift in learning.

Alongside the Expo, the show will also feature two conference tracks that will run simultaneously over the three-day event: the Asia Education Conference 2013 (AEC2013) for educators, with the theme Knowledge through New Eyes; and the Asia Education Conference2013 (Parents' Edition) with the theme It takes a Village to Raise a Child

AEX2013 will also present the SEAMEO RELC Conference on Day 2, 21 November, with the theme New Pathways to Knowledge in Asia Today. It addresses the issues of a changing landscape in education, and how it could be embraced by teachers and learners alike. Two experts who have been invited to speak at the SEAMEO RELC Conference include Professor Chris Davison, Professor of Education and Head of the School of Education, University of New South Wales, and Professor Ken Hyland, Director, Centre for Applied English Studies and Chair of Applied Linguistics, University of Hong Kong. Both speakers are well-respected researchers and educators with a very good feel of Southeast Asia.

Supported by The Straits Times, the AEX Teachers’ Forum on Day 3, 22 November, with the theme The News in Authentic Learning, will delve into the use of “news” as an effective teaching resource.
