SPH adopts $18,000 worth of gifts for Boys' Brigade Share-A-Gift programme

Singapore, 17 December 2013 - The management and staff of Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) have adopted and fulfilled more than 300 wishes for the Boys' Brigade Share-A-Gift programme, amounting to about $18,000 worth of gifts.

This is the seventh year which SPH has participated in the charity project.

The wishes came from both elderly and children beneficiaries from six charity organisations, namely Ang Mo Kio Family Service Centre, Care Corner Family Service Centre (Toa Payoh), Life Community Services Society (MightyKids, Families & Community), Caregiving Welfare Association, Ling Kwang Home for Senior Citizens and St Luke's ElderCare Ltd (Bukit Timah Centre).

The wishes ranged from household appliances, clothes, toys to toiletries. In addition to the wishes, food items and groceries were also donated to the beneficiaries.

The Boys' Brigade aims to fulfil the wishes of more than 40,000 people this Christmas season through its Share-A-Gift programme, the biggest target in the event's history since its launch in 1988. The nationwide charity programme which aims to bring festive cheer to the less privileged is held from Nov 20 to Dec 18.

Apart from the adoption of wishes, SPH also organised a year end party for about 100 beneficiaries at the SPH News Centre Auditorium today. Beneficiaries who attended the lunch party were from Ang Mo Kio Family Service Centres, Care Corner Family Service Centre (Toa Payoh) and Life Community Services Society (MightyKids, Families & Community).

Staff from the SPH Staff Volunteers Club, as well as employees who adopted the wishes, also joined in to spread festive cheer to the beneficiaries by playing games and interacting with them. The staff volunteers also presented the adopted gifts to the beneficiaries at the end of the event.

The event is an SPH Cares Project organised by SPH Corporate Communications & CSR Division in collaboration with the Boys' Brigade.
