Singapore, 19 January 2016 – Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) will be distributing festive bags (福袋）to 120 seniors staying at one-room flats of Toa Payoh Lorong 1 on 22 January. The festive bags, worth about $50 each, include basic necessities like bread, cereal, tea, milk, cream crackers, rice and canned food, as well as festive items like canned Pacific clams and Mandarin oranges. Over 20 staff volunteers will be taking part in the event. The event is in partnership with the Toa Payoh Care Corner Senior Activity Centre. Chin Soo Fang, Head of Corporate Communications & CSR which helms the Staff Volunteers Club, says:"We would like to start the new year with a meaningful act of kindness and spread some festive cheer to our needy neighbours in Toa Payoh. Besides our staff volunteers, we have also gathered a group of generous sponsors who believed in this charitable cause and supported our community effort to promote a caring and inclusive neighbourhood."The SPH Staff Volunteers Club, launched in 2010, aims to enhance the company's image as a good corporate citizen and encourage active volunteerism among staff.
