Singapore, 26 May 2016 – The third edition of BuildTech Yangon opens today at the Myanmar Convention Centre, with a revamped profile, showcasing the latest in equipment, machinery and solutions on facilities management (FM), interior finishing and architectural solutions. Organised by Sphere Exhibits, a subsidiary of Singapore Press Holdings (SPH), and co-organised by the Myanmar Construction Entrepreneurs Association (MCEA), BuildTech Yangon 2016 will be held from 26 to 28 May 2016 at Myanmar Convention Centre, Yangon. The much anticipated trade show brings together some 60 exhibiting companies from Austria, China, Indonesia, Korea, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. The exhibition includes staple exhibits covering construction machinery building materials, and mechanical engineering solutions to better address the growth and rapid expansion in the areas of infrastructure management.BuildTech Yangon 2016 is expected to draw over 4,500 visitors, including architects, developers, building and trade agencies, investors, manufacturers of machine and building, retailers, security, state-own company owners, surveyors, trainers and wholesalers. The building and construction industry’s output value recorded a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.4 percent during the period 2010 to 2014, and is expected to post a CAGR of 6.0 percent from 2015 to 2019, according to a report from research firm Timetric.Mr. U Tha Htay, President of Myanmar Construction Entrepreneurs Association (MCEA), said: “We are proud to be launching BuildTech Yangon for the third time, together with Sphere Exhibits. Worth an estimated US$765 million, the infrastructure construction sector is the second largest industry in Myanmar’s construction sector. The show certainly comes at an opportune time, especially considering that the Myanmar government is prioritising infrastructure development in order to gear up for the country’s rapid economic growth.” “We are expecting to see major development of new buildings, pipelines, electrical grids and roads in the coming future. Additionally, there has been a sharp increase in foreign direct investment which has led to a corresponding growth for housing for expatriates, as well as for new office space. This bodes well for exhibitors and visitors at BuildTech Yangon, considering the many growth opportunities available in Myanmar’s building and construction sector.”MCEA’s Mandalay Chapter has signed a memorandum of understanding with Sphere Exhibits to co-organise BuildTech Mandalay later this year, reinforcing a stronger alliance between the two organisations in its efforts to further extend the knowledge building and trade opportunities towards industry professionals in Myanmar. Mr. Chua Wee Phong, Chairman of Sphere Exhibits Pte Ltd, said: “Myanmar’s economy is expanding at a rapid rate. The government is also increasing their spending in public infrastructure, plus with the rising interest of domestic and foreign real estate developers in constructing residential units to meet the population’s housing demand – all this translates to vast opportunities for both organisations and industry professionals alike to tap into. BuildTech Yangon has become increasingly more relevant today, especially considering that Myanmar’s construction industry is expected to continue growing at a relatively fast pace compared to other emerging markets from 2015 to 2019.”Held alongside the exhibition is the three-day Business Seminar Series which has seen a three-fold expansion from the previous year. To address the growing needs revolving round construction safety and the facilities management arena, two one-day seminars have also been added into this year’s programme to share with the industry on skills upgrading and knowledge for the local industry. Over 4,500 local and international industry leaders gather at the seminars to share best practices, and exchange ideas and expert knowledge on areas in construction safety, foreign investment, construction laws, infrastructure and construction management. Some 1,000 delegates are expected to attend the Business Seminar Series.Exhibition highlightsTapping into the tremendous growth potential of Myanmar’s building and construction sector, this trade show features a newly revamped exhibitor profile of leading international and regional companies which offer products, services and solutions for four key areas: On-Site construction Machinery and Equipment, Building Materials and Architectural Solutions, Interior Finishing, and Facilities Management.Exhibition highlights include PT.
