Singapore, 9 March 2018 – The Seletar Mall will be organising a campaign to raise awareness about the importance of marine conservation from 10 to 18 March. Themed “Our Home, Their Home”, The Seletar Mall, in partnership with the National Parks Board (NParks), will be offering a series of green activities, which includes an experiential exhibition, interesting workshops, educational talks, as well as a recycled art competition for shoppers to learn more about marine conservation.
Marine debris and litter are serious global pollution issues that adversely impact wildlife, human health and the marine environment. One of the solutions is to reduce the amount of plastic used and discarded in our daily life. In line with the theme, The Seletar Mall has organised a recycled art competition “Unleash Your Creativity with Marine Trash!” to encourage shoppers to reuse plastic packaging and ultimately, reduce the amount of plastic waste. The contest has garnered 88 entries on the mall’s Facebook page by the closing date on 4 March. Six shortlisted entries will be selected to compete for a total prize value of more than $5,000 on 10 March. Dr Lam Pin Min, Senior Minister of State for Health & Transport, and Grassroots Adviser to Sengkang West GROs, will be gracing the event.
"The ocean is the largest ecosystem and the life support system on earth. The Seletar Mall hopes to do our part in protecting the environment and preventing further deterioration to this important ecosystem, allowing our future generations the opportunity to enjoy the healthy ocean,” said the spokesperson from The Seletar Mall.
Besides the educational activities, shoppers with a minimum spend of $20* can also choose to participate in game stations which include a human claw machine or giant slide. There are also attractive in-mall lucky draw and instant dip promotions, as well as online contests, to encourage shoppers to spend their March holidays in The Seletar Mall.
