SPH awarded at 2007 INMA Newspaper Marketing Awards

Singapore, 18 June 2007 – Singapore Press Holdings Limited (SPH) won international recognition at the 2007 INMA Newspaper Marketing Awards, which honours excellence in newspaper marketing worldwide.

The winning entry was the SPH Ink Awards, organised by the Product Development and Branding unit of SPH’s Marketing Division. It came in second in Category 15 "Managing Advertiser Relationships", for newspapers in the circulation group over 300,000. The First Place in that category went to the Los Angeles Times.

Singapore was the only Asian country which won in the category. Other winners in the same category were New Zealand, Venezuela, Austria and USA. The only other Asian newspaper that won an award among the 128 winners was the South China Morning Post, Hong Kong, China in Category 10 "Premiums/Incentives".

The entries were judged on their concept, creativity, copy/graphic design, production, overall effectiveness and their end results.

The honour is even greater knowing that the judging was done by a team of international professionals in the advertising, marketing as well as newspaper businesses."

Mr Leslie Fong, Executive Vice-President of SPH’s Marketing Division, says: "Organising the SPH Ink Awards was a long process. A lot of thought was put into perfecting the concept and the format of the awards. The team has worked hard and we are now seeing the fruits of our labour. The award will serve to motivate us to furthur improve the SPH Ink Awards, and at the same time, think of new ideas to market not just The Straits Times but other SPH products as well."

The 72nd INMA Newspaper Marketing Awards were presented at the INMA World Congress in Paris recently.

This is not the first victory for the SPH Ink Awards. Earlier, it clinched the John V Sellers title for Best Campaign in the over 50,000 circulation category at the Pacific Area Newspaper Publishers Association (PANPA) 2007 Newspaper Advertising Awards, held in March this year.

Outdoor Advertising
In addition, SPH has ventured into outdoor advertising through its wholly-owned subsidiary, SPH MediaBoxOffice Pte Ltd, Singapore’s largest outdoor motion display advertising network media company, and a 35 percent stake in TOM Outdoor Media Group, a leading outdoor advertising company in China.

Properties
SPH owns and manages Paragon, the prime retail and office complex in the heart of Orchard Road, Singapore’s main shopping belt. SPH’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Times Development Pte Ltd, is also developing a 43-storey upmarket residential condominium, Sky@eleven, at Thomson Road.
