Unveiling The Definitive Singapore Executive
Singapore, 2 April 2008 – The winner of the inaugural my paper Executive Look will be announced on 4 April (Friday) at the my paper Executive Look 2008 grand finals. The contest is a new signature event by my paper, Singapore´s first full-fledged bilingual newspaper by leading media company Singapore Press Holdings (SPH).
The my paperExecutive Look is a competitive search for a young male or female executive who best epitomises the urban working executive – smart, stylish, savvy and confident. Contestants have to be executives below 35 years of age and currently employed with at least 2 years of working experience. Besides providing a platform for executives to express themselves, the contest aims to enhance the contestants’ profiles in the corporate world.
Registration started in January 08 and over 300 entries were received. The 20 finalists include managers, engineers, tax consultants, accountants, and analysts from companies such as Bloomberg, SingTel, Singapore Sports Council, UBS and Ernst & Young. They were put through training on skincare, make-up, catwalk and business etiquette for the past one month.
As the search is for the definitive urban working executive, contestants will be not be judged solely on looks. Instead, they will be judged on their style, disposition, “EQ” (Emotional Quotient) and “OQ” (“Office Intelligence Quotient”) through various segments, including corporate-related topic discussions with guest moderator Mr Nicholas Fang, a four-time national fencing champion and a correspondent with The Straits Times´ Money Desk.
The top 3 contestants will be unveiled at the grand finals at Raffles City Shopping Centre, and the grand winner will walk away with $10,000 cash, $800 Clarins Luxurious hamper and $600 hair services voucher from Jeric Hair Salon. The finalist who received the highest number of votes from readers of my paper, via an online voting contest from 24 March 2008 on http://executivelook.mypaper.sg, will also receive the “Readers´ Choice Award”. Voting ends on 3 April 2008, midnight.
Mr Yeow Kai Chai, Editor, my paper (English), who is one of the judges during the finals, said: “All the finalists are strong contestants and fine executives in their own right. The judges will have the arduous task of deciding on the most outstanding contestant who has all the required qualities. It will also not be easy for the contestants as a lot depends on their performance at that very moment. It´s not unlike a big job interview, except that at the finals, there will be lots of people looking at you.”
Mr Goh Sin Teck, Consulting Editor, my paper (Chinese), also a judge for the finals, added: “We are a young vibrant paper providing both important information and entertainment to our readers which include young bilingual executives. The inaugural my paper Executive Look has received great response from them and affirms our place with younger readers.”
Published by leading media group Singapore Press Holdings, my paper is a compact-sized, full-colour newspaper that places equal emphasis on Chinese and English. It has a daily circulation of 300,000 copies, and is available from Monday to Friday at MRT stations, bus interchanges, office buildings and selected residential areas.
