Singapore, 31 July 2008 – From 1 August 2008, weekends will start early for consumers when they shop at buzz pods – a new generation of newsstands set up by Singapore Press Holdings (SPH).
With the launch of buzz fridayz tomorrow (1 August), consumers will enjoy a range of exciting offers when they make a minimum purchase of $5 at all buzz pods every Friday.
There will be new offers each week, based on a monthly lifestyle theme ranging from dining, entertainment, fashion, travel and more.
Mr Chua Wee Phong, Executive Vice President of Circulation (SPH) and Director of SPH Buzz, said: “Buzz fridayz is aimed at delivering a rewarding retail experience and giving more value to our customers. With a minimum purchase of $5, customers are getting offers that are worth up to three times their purchases. Buzz fridayz is the first of many more exciting retail promotions that we have lined up for our customers."
Consumers can look forward to more buzz with the expansion of the buzz pod network and the new merchandise mix in store.
"With our current franchise model, we are confident of setting up 100 buzz pods over the next two years, making it a `must-stop´ for everyone on the go,” Mr Chua added.
Buzz fridayz promotions for August
For the month of August, buzz fridayz will be offering a complimentary pass* to these exciting attractions:

· 22 August Butterfly Park & Insect Kingdom
· 29 August Perankan Museum
On every Friday in August, Jeremy Ratnam of Radio 91.3FM will visit a different buzz pod to meet and greet buzz pod customers.
He will be at the Toa Payoh HDB Hub buzz pod on 1 August, from 12 noon to 1pm, to kick-start the inaugural buzz fridayz. Shoppers can take a picture with the buzz fridayz ambassadors and get additional giveaways when they make a minimum purchase of $5.
They will also stand to win attractive prizes when they participate in the fun and exciting games hosted by Jeremy.
