Singapore, 23 October 2008 - SoShiok.com, Singapore Press Holdings’ food website, has become the Number 1 food and beverage lifestyle site in Singapore, according to Hitwise, the international online research specialist which ranks the popularity of websites.
Barely five months after its launch, it has beaten more established food sites to achieve the top status.
According to Hitwise, SoShiok.com captured the biggest market share in the Food and Beverage (lifestyle and reference) category, which covers food and wine appreciation, gourmet and epicurean lifestyle, entertaining and cooking.
With Singaporeans´ preoccupation with dining, SoShiok.com´s comprehensive restaurant reviews and buffet guide are the favourite bookmarks for foodies.
The site, launched under the AsiaOne umbrella, also makes meal recommendations for breakfast, lunch and dinner, all personally picked by SoShiok.com’s editors.
Said SoShiok.com’s editor, Ms Chen Jingwen: “We make things even easier by having an interactive restaurant search feature with a map function that tells you where your dining option is located."
Since its launch in end-May, SoShiok.com has also organised various activities for its readers, such as the recent Oktoberfest party at Paulaner Brahaus.
SoShiok.com’s winning features:
1) Search features function allows readers to seek out dining options by location and cuisine type. A map service provides the location of the chosen option.
2) News Bites section carries the latest food news on current affairs, safety, trends, promotions and events.
3) Hot Restaurants is the section to go for food reviews, be it Singapore cuisine or French fine dining.
4) Foodie Features carries in-depth articles on gourmet lifestyle and food and restaurant trends.
5) Cook This is a section for recipes of food and drinks.
There is also a multimedia section where you can watch videos on food and drinks and even cooking demonstrations by hotel chefs, both local and foreign.
Starting in November, ’Top 10 SoShiok’ will be a foodie’s definitive guide to Singapore’s favourites such as char kway teow, chicken rice and roti prata. SoShiok.com will assess recommendations by the public and give away vouchers to those who submit the best recommendations.
SoShiok.com welcomes contributions of food reviews, food videos and news on restaurants, food products and beverage. Its email address is email@example.com.
