Singapore, February 10, 2009 – The Her World Beauty Awards 2008 organised by SPH Magazines Pte Ltd ("SPH Magazines") will be held at Raffles City Shopping Centre, Level 3 City Square on February 13, 2009, from 3pm to 5pm.
Now into its eighth year, the Her World Beauty Awards honours outstanding players in the beauty industry for products that have demonstrated unparalleled superiority and innovation. The awards ceremony aims to acknowledge the brands that are instrumental in influencing beauty and lifestyle trends through continually striving to deliver products of distinction to consumers.
The team at Her World sifted through products released between October 2007 and September 2008, and narrowed the selection to the products that addressed foremost beauty concerns and best met consumer needs. The list of 609 nominated products was released in both print and online editions of Her World, and over 2,000 readers weighed in to determine the Readers’ Choice Awards. A panel of experts (editors, leading makeup artists and doctors) were roped in to judge the Editors’ Choice Awards.
This year, Her World will be giving away 101 winning products in 53 categories, from anti-ageing, whitening, to new advances such as mineral makeup. There are also awards for the Most Inspiring Ad and the Best Newcomer for the most exciting new brand that entered the market in 2008. A grand prize – the Her World Beauty Product of the Year – will also be given by the editorial judging panel to a product that garnered the most votes and is considered exceptional, in that it is innovative and user-friendly, understands women’s beauty concerns and delivers on its promises.
For the first time, there will be special activities for readers following the awards ceremony. After the awards presentation, the winning products will be on display at the Winner’s Gallery at the Raffles City Shopping Centre, Level 3 City Square over the weekend, on February 14 and 15, 2009, from 11am to 9pm. There will also be exclusive workshops from Clarins and Lancome, offering hands-on experience of their winning products. The Her World Beauty Awards Readers’ Choice winners were determined by reader votes on a list of nominees published in the November and December 2008 issues of Her World, and online at www.herworld.com.
The Her World Beauty Awards Editors’ Choice winners were selected by an expert panel consisting of editors, beauty writers, makeup artists and doctors.
The Her World Best Newcomer winner was selected by both readers and the expert panel, for the most exciting new brand that entered the market in 2008.
The Most Inspiring Ad was selected by an editorial judging panel, based on the image used, ad copy and overall presentation.
The Her World Beauty Awards Product of the Year was determined from among products with the most votes; an editorial judging panel selected the final winner.
