Are You Men’s Health Enough? Kicks Off Guy Search

Singapore, 20 February 2009 - Men’s Health, Singapore’s No. 1 men’s magazine, has shortlisted 10 finalists for this year’s Are You Men’s Health Enough? search, and will reveal them to the public in the coming months. The contest, now in its third year, is organised by Men’s Health, published by SPH Magazines Pte Ltd (SPH Magazines) and presented by Berocca.

Are You Men´s Health Enough? is an islandwide search for a male role model who embodies the Men´s Health ideal: He is a guy who works and plays hard, leads a well-balanced and active life, and has overcome personal challenges and obstacles to achieve success in his own right.

Contestants were either self-nominated or recommended by readers of Men’s Health. After a round of interviews, the 10 finalists - among them, a dental surgeon, a professional fighter and a civil defence officer - were shortlisted from the many entries. All 10 will participate in a series of challenges in the form of workshops covering areas from grooming and nutrition to marksmanship and dragon boating. On 21 February, the 10 guys will participate in their first workshop - a mixed martial arts class conducted by Berocca - and also meet their fellow contenders for the first time.

The Are You Men’s Health Enough? finalists will be judged on their ability to overcome adversity, physical and mental capabilities, and level of sportsmanship, among other criteria, by a panel of judges comprising the Men’s Health editorial team and the magazine’s readers. Besides being healthy and fit, the winner will also be self-assured yet unassuming, stylish yet unpretentious, and - most important of all - someone who inspires the people around him. The search will culminate in a Grand Finals party in July 2009, where the winner’s title will be given out together with other subsidiary awards.

Ryan Reuben, Deputy Editor of Men’s Health, says: "We shortlisted 10 distinctly different guys this year, but they all have one thing in common - passion and a determination to live life to the fullest - which is exactly what we were looking for.”

From 24 February, readers can log on to to meet the 10 finalists and check out the behind-the-scenes action of the workshops and various activities. From April onwards, they can also vote for the finalist they find most inspiring for the chance to win attractive prizes and tickets to the Finals party.
