AsiaOne People’s Choice 2008

Singapore, 24 February 2009 – AsiaOne, the Singapore Press Holdings website that is Singapore’s leading internet portal, will be announcing the results of its 2008 People’s Choice Awards.

The annual awards honour the most popular services, products and trends that have captivated and caught the attention of its readers and consumers in 2008.

This is the first time AsiaOne is having a ceremony to present its winners with awards in recognition of their outstanding achievements and successful branding across industries in Asia.

The results of the Awards were based entirely on popularity votes from AsiaOne’s online readers, who were given a choice of 10 candidates per category. These choices were shortlisted by a panel, made up of the AsiaOne team and a number of noted journalists from various SPH papers, based on what they felt was hot, captivating and trendy in the past year.

Voting commenced in December 2008 and over 11,000 votes were cast across 11 categories within less than two months.

Three winners have emerged from the categories after rounds of careful selection by a panel from SPH.

Based on the various lifestyle and special interest offerings within AsiaOne, the 11 categories comprise a formidable list of products and services.

The 11 categories are:
- Credit cards
- Budget cars
- Fashion labels
- Luxury living
- Gadgets
- Games
- Fitness outlets
- Chinese restaurants
- Japanese restaurants
- Asia airports
- Private schools

The AsiaOne 2008 People’s Choice Awards ceremony will take place on 4 March 2009, from 7pm to 9pm, at the Singapore Press Holdings News Centre Auditorium.

Guest-of-Honour, Mr Lawrence Leow, President, Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, will also be gracing the Awards Ceremony on that day.

With this event, AsiaOne hopes to work hand-in-hand with trade partners across the region, to further encourage brand recognition and laud its industry partners for their achievements and online marketing efforts.
